John & Jane MacKinnon

Jane and her father Edward ATKINS, of Succex, England arrived on 6th December 1858 on the boat
"Melbourne"from Liverpool, England. He was listed as an agricultural labourer on the shipping
records.  He settled at Moonta in South Australia.

John was born at Hill River station, near Clare in SA to Donald and Mary MacKinnon who had
come from Scotland on the boat "Tomatin" in 1840. 

They had 11 children with Annie, the twin sister of Walter Richard dying shortly after birth 
in 1888.

John worked at Hill River station near Clare in SA and they lived at 12 Mill Street in Clare.

John died in 1889 and Jane in 1923. They are both buried at the General Cemetery at Clare SA
with their daughter Clara and baby great grandson John (son of Mary and Clarence McKinnon) 
who was stillborn.
